Guerilla Shakespeare
Guerrilla Shakespeare is British Touring Shakespeare’s bold, unpredictable open access theatrical experiment — a thrilling one-night-only performance where anything can happen. Actors and members of the public are cast in a Shakespeare play and given their roles in advance, with just enough time to learn their lines. The twist? There are no rehearsals, no direction, no hierarchy: cast members meet each other for the first time when they step on the stage.
Each Guerrilla Shakespeare event is a high-wire act that celebrates the raw energy, spontaneity, and daring spirit of live performance, as Shakespeare intended. With nothing but their preparation and instincts, the cast meets for the first time in front of a live audience — making for an evening that’s as surprising and exhilarating for the actors as it is for the audience. Everyone who would like to participate is guaranteed a role.
Expect laughs, improvisation, genuine moments of discovery, and a fresh look at Shakespeare’s work in its most essential, unfiltered form.
Guerrilla Shakespeare is perfect for Shakespeare lovers, theatre risk-takers, and anyone who enjoys the thrill of the unexpected.

Events thus far have included completely unrehearsed productions of King Lear at the Westminster Hub, Twelfth Night on twelfth night at Limehouse Town Hall by candlelight, Romeo and Juliet in the catacombs underneath the Roundhouse in Camden, Troilus and Cressida at the British Museum, and King Henry V in the arms and armour hall at the Wallace Collection.
