About
British Touring Shakespeare
"Shakespeare probably IS better when performed outdoors. And in an ideal world it would always be performed by British Touring Shakespeare."

bringing Shakespeare to life since 1999
For over 25 years, British Touring Shakespeare has delighted audiences across the UK and internationally with vibrant, accessible productions of Shakespeare classics and literary adaptations. Whether performing in historic castles, stately gardens, or community green spaces, our mission is simple: to bring high-quality professional theatre to people wherever they are.
We proudly tour each summer with fresh and exciting open-air performances, and in recent years have expanded to include indoor productions, original adaptations, and educational projects. Past successes include acclaimed productions of Twelfth Night, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and Much Ado About Nothing; thrilling adaptations of Dracula, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde co-adapted by award winning historian and writer David Hobbs MBE; and the inventive Twelfth Night sequel Thirteenth Night: Malvolio's Revenge.
British Touring Shakespeare was the first touring theatre company in Britain to return to live performance during the recovery from the pandemic with our open air tour of Two Gentlemen of Verona at socially distanced venues. This pioneering mindset continues to drive our work. In partnership with Facsimile Productions we also continue to expand our reach and develop bold new projects.
Whether you're a long-time fan or experiencing open-air theatre for the first time, British Touring Shakespeare offers timeless stories, passionate performances, and unforgettable experiences.
Join us on tour and experience Shakespeare as it was meant to be enjoyed: live, open-air, and full of life.
